Why Don’t Things Work Out Better For You?

It’s a tough question but one that you’d really like an answer to. The main issues are not seeing the problem clearly enough, not recognizing what the problem really is, and not having the know-how or skills to attack the problem.

How can you see the problem clearly? You almost certainly have one or more ideas or preconceived notions about the situation that are blocking you from being able to really see what’s going on. You have to get those ideas in perspective in your mind. You need to check them and find out which ones are correct and which ones are just mistakes. It takes patience and a willingness to get out of your comfort zone. You also have to get yourself calm enough that your mind is not clouded by emotions.

How can you recognize what the problem really is? You need to do this if you want to be able to actually solve it at all. Before you can recognize anything, you have to have a pattern in your mind that you can use to match up the problem to. Basically this means simply having a little background about the problem – like when you recognize a car’s make and model because you already know about that car.

Finally, you need to have the know-how to do something about the problem. If it’s relationships, you need at least some experience with them. If it’s a problem with job interviewing, you have to do a little homework to find out more about that. What to do here is simple but it takes some effort on your part to do the homework or to get the experience you need. Or to ask for help from somebody who knows more about it than you do.

So you need to be able to see the problem clearly enough to be working on the real problem and not something else. You also have to have enough of a background about the problem to be able to recognize what’s really going on. And you need to either have the know-how to attack it yourself, or to get the help you need from someone else who does have the know-how. Get these issues under control and you’ll be much more effective at dealing with any difficulties you may face.
